If your dog can tolerate smelt fish (no allergies) then YES.... it is perfectly fine.....
Regarding raw.... that is up to you..... has he had raw fish before??? i know some dogs eat raw fish, while others don't. My guess is that ir really depends on how they were raised eating fish.

Since your dog has been on commercial food.... my personal thought with this is to maybe cook (low heat) in the beginning of serving.... if you start giving it to him frequently (cooked) and all goes well.... then you might want to try "a little bit" raw and jsut watch to see how he does..........

Start with just a little.... smelt is healthy but oily... watch the poo.... and gauge if you think you need to add a tiny bit more of enzymes or not... my guess is that you probably will not have to add more enzymes cause this is fish in the natural state and very often fish oil is much more well tolerated by an EPI dog vs. from meat.... but i am mentioning this.... just in case :)
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........
