Dear All
I’m new to the forum, my dog was diagnosed with epi 2 years ago, it took a year to get him stable really been good for the last year. I accidentally missed giving him 1 dose of Lipex with his food day before yesterday with him morning meal. Not sure how it happened as I’m really normally very conscientious about it and ironically worry about anyone else feeding him in case they forget . He seemed fin for 24 hrs and I thought phew I have got away with it he’s ok. He had all other subsequent doses as normal then last night he vomited twice in the evening and isn’t himself this morning, seems either nauseous or has abdominal pain or both. He didn’t seem to want his normal food so I gave him home cooked fish and sweet potato meal which I kept him on for a year till he was stable. He ate this ok and is fine apart from being a bit fine and subdued.
My question is could this be the missed dose of Lopez a day and a half before symptoms ? I haven’t missed a dose with him before so don’t know, or is this something else?
Just wondering if others have had delayed reactions to any missed doses?
Thank u
Missed Lipex dose

Re: Missed Lipex dose
Hmmmmm... Hopefully one of our UK folks will chime in cause they deal with Lypex specifically ... but.... just in general with missed enzyme doses and EPI dogs. It can go two ways:
1. You don't notice much of a problem if missed just once, stools might be a little softer than normal,or there might be a little burping, etc, but nothing to get alarmed about.... and things go back to normal once the enzyme protocol is resumed. Some of these same dogs are also fine if they get into something they shouldn't- -and any ill effects pass quickly pr are very slight.
2. With some other EPI dogs, the least little variance from the normal routine will set them off into a tail spin.... if they miss a dose or if they get into something they shouldn't.... that day or the next day.... they start having issues.... loose poos, gas, burping etc. HOWEVER.... this too should pass very quickly.
In reading your post, i would brush it off as #2 above EXCEPT for the fact that you mentioned he doesn't seem himself and is acting like he is either nauseous or experiencing stomach pain (it's the possible pain that would concern me) and that he is subdued. If this was my dog, i would watch him closely today to see if this resolves by tonight... if not, then i would bring him to the vet tomorrow just in case something else is going on. Most likely not, BUT, we like to err on the side of caution.

Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

Re: Missed Lipex dose
ht there
we are from Liverpool, where are you
one enzyme missed meal is a pain in that it causes undigested food, the enzymes only last about an hour in the gut, and work on that meal only
I would als watch for any other issues, but is there any rumbling in the tummy area
can you advise if you supplement b12
