I welcome your questions....gas doesn't smell like eggs. It smells more like her poo. Stinky....

Hi, yes it's a 1 /4 teaspoon for 10 to 30 lbs . How much does your dog weigh ? Yes this is the frustrating part of EPI..... finding the right recipe of food, supplements, etc for your dog. Are you keeping a journal? My dog can't handle probiotics. Each dog is so different.
Kodi
B. 8/19/2010 Diagnosed at 11 months.
Kodi is now on Natures Logic turkey and/or pork kibble, 2 cups with 2 teaspoons of enzymes, 1/8 teaspoon of ground coriander, 1/16 teaspoon of cinnamon and ground fennel seed (for tummy upsets) twice a day, plus one one B12 capsule from Wonderlabs. She has been very stable and on occasion needs a dose ofTylan.
She is our second GSD with EPI. It was not so scary this time ! And thank goodness for epi4dogs.com ! 💝 Kodi passed on August 25, 2023 just after her 13th birthday.💝 Forever grateful to Olesia and epi4dogs. She live a long and adventurous life with EPI.

if it all seemed to start with the supplement.... then you could be right... it could be something about the supplement that is setting her off.... we had one case where it was the gel cap coating that caused the problem!!! Who in the world would have suspected that.... so, you jsut never ever know until you test/proof things one at a time.... but if your pup is farting,,,, a lot..... something has triggered SID to get a little out of control. :(

Yes you can order slippery elm from wonderlabs, i use their product and am very VERY pleased with it.

The only thing about slippery elm is that some dogs do better with less.... and then on the flip side, some do better with more. I personally like to suggest conservatively first and then increase if need be.

here is the suggested dosing recommendations:
1/8 tsp for dogs under 10lbs,
¼ tsp for dogs 10lbs to 30lbs,
½ tsp for dogs 30lbs to 80lbs,
3/4 tsp for dogs 80lbs to 100lbs,
1 tsp for dog 100/+lbs.

Let us know how things go!
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

With the slippery Elm is this amount twice a day? She weighs 22 pounds so she would be be getting 1/4 tsp...

I really think that the supplement was causing my problems. She has been off of it for a few days and have noticed the gas isn't quite as often. She still has gas but not as constant. I have slippery Elm on order and will get her started on it when it comes. I really never gave it a thought when I put both of my girls on this supplement. She is a show dog and for bait she gets chicken and cheese. Never have had a problem with these and they are not given with enzymes. No more supplements that is for sure. She does tolerate coconut oil so will just use that for a coat supplement. I so appreciate all of the help that everyone has given me. This is a learning process as we go along.

Glad to hear that the gs is subsiding.. The craziest little thing will set some of these dogs off. that is why we suggest (after the initial change to protocol tp actually treat EPI in the beginning)... if there is a blip or if things don't work out according to plan, we suggest testing things one at a time :)
