The Honest Kitchen--NEW, Whole Food Clusters

Post by Paige's Guardian » 22 Apr 2019, 09:37

Great company with many varieties that do not have peas. However.....

New product: Whole food clusters. All 3 formulas have peas as the 3rd ingredient and Fiber is 5%.

This might not be a great choice for your EPI dog but might be a good option for dogs that do not have EPI.

Currently, not yet available to purchase online, only at select stores.

Hi Conny, when I contacted Kat at THK in 2012 she told me they were all over 5% fiber and not suitable for EPI. I tried the base mix and added egg for Mick with pancreatitis abd also the white fish but he wasn't big on either. Kiya was eating Embark.

Thanks for the heads-up.
My name is Jill and we live on the Hood Canal in Washington State. We currently have 2 Jack russells, TJ is 8 and Sadie is 2.

Mickey, Jack Russell. Chronic Pancreatitis. Dianes enzymes, 1/8t 3x/day with meals.

Thank you Conny for letting us know about this food :)
Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

I tried honest kitchen clusters and its not going well for Kimber. I would advise against it. Great company but the food is not for EPI dogs.

Food can always be tricky with an EPI dog peas and fibre above 4 % would have been a no no for my gal...its trial and error.
Maddie DX April 2011 along with low B12 she was feed with a low fibre food below 3% , fat was not restricted ( she wasnt good on pea based foods ) She initially had a course of B12 shots weekly over a period of 6 months and then we used the B12 pills from Chemeyes in the UK . We used Panzym and slowly had to increase the dose as she aged when she was first DX she was 23kg but she gained weight quickly and got back to 33 kg .
Maddie gained her angel wings in Jan 2018 at the age of 10 to a condition unrelated to EPI.

Most of THK mixes are over 4% fiber I believe. Sorry it's not working out.
