Guess who is turning 15 tomorrow, Tue 4/23?!?!

Post by pommymommy » 22 Apr 2019, 21:47

Hi fellow EPI-ers...I just wanted to drop in and say Romeo will be 15 tomorrow. I know for a fact he would not have made it this far without the care and guidance of you all. You were with us in the beginning and I am comforted to know you will be there in the future, if needed. I've said it before and I'll say it until the very end.....this forum, the wonderful admins, and everyone associated with this amazing group of life-savers are just that....life savers!

Romeo is doing pretty well, considering he has lost most of his hearing. His right eye is blind from cataracts and his left eye also has the beginnings of a cataract. He is taking ocular vitamins and it has slowed the progression quite a bit.

He eats 4 times a day (3 tbsp wet food at each feeding), still takes his B12,, Creon 10 (split in half at each meal)and treats, which he loves.

Hope everyone is doing well....Romeo sends his love and kisses :)
Suzy - Greatful for finding this forum and meeting such nice and helpful people.

Romeo, DOB 04/23/2004- healthy weight 11.1 pounds (I should say overweight); EPI weight 5.8 Pounds :(..Currently 7.2 :)

11/18/13 results: TLI: 1.3 (5-35), diagnostic for EPI. Folate 17.2 (6.5-11.5). (Consistent with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth or vitamin supplementation). Cobalamin 458 (249-733)

Pepcid AC, 2.5 mg as needed

Update 11/2/2016 started using Creon 10,000. Update 1/7/2017...the Creon is working. Gained almost a pound in one month! Keeping fingers crossed :)

Happy Birthday Romeo, from Arya & Brandon here in Sunny California!!!
We hope he gets lots of love and tummy rubs!
Christine, Sean, Arya & Brandon
Arya & Brandon born March 17, 2013. Lab/Shepherd/ Border Collie mix.
Arya gets 1/4 can of Blue Buffalo. Be sure there are no peas in the food. Backyard BBQ, & Denali Dinner are some of the foods. Be sure the food is warm, but NOT HOT, as it will kill the enzymes. We mix 2 1/2 teaspoons EnzymesDiane powder into her food(including the kibble), Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula, 2 cups(Chicken & Brown Rice). We incubate food for 30 minutes. After the incubation period add, 2 Metamucil capsules(broken open & sprinkled on food)& Rx vitamins for pets probiotic. We add The WonderLabs B12 & Slippery Elm at dinner only. Again, we agree that no two EPI pets are the same.

OH MY GOSH!!! I can't believe that sweet little boy is going to be 15. I'm so happy to see you here on the forum. I've often wondered how you guys were doing. Congratulations on doing such a great job with him - especially given the food sensitivities - I remember how much we both struggled with that :)
Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

Thanks everyone. Romeo has been sleeping ALL DAY, as usual. He had a few treats (within the enzyme window of course) between naps. I plan on celebrating all week long :)

It's amazing how fast time flies!!!

Thank you again everyone, we appreciate each one of you. Hugs and kisses

Romeo hope you had a great day .
What a wonderful age.

Ann
Maddie DX April 2011 along with low B12 she was feed with a low fibre food below 3% , fat was not restricted ( she wasnt good on pea based foods ) She initially had a course of B12 shots weekly over a period of 6 months and then we used the B12 pills from Chemeyes in the UK . We used Panzym and slowly had to increase the dose as she aged when she was first DX she was 23kg but she gained weight quickly and got back to 33 kg .
Maddie gained her angel wings in Jan 2018 at the age of 10 to a condition unrelated to EPI.
