Jack, non-epi very naughty small terrier, for the second time , jumped on the table and ate half a packet of butter. My brain automatically warns me of pancreatitis. Last time he threw it all up over the carpet. I gave him boiled rice. This time he wasn’t sick for hours then he did a rock hard yellow poo Luckily he is fine today, digging for Britain as we say here.
It got me thinking that I wish we still had some of dearly departed Marti’s enzymes. Would it be logical to give him a dose in order to digest the overdose of butter?
I don’t know what’s harder, training him not to jump on the table, or to train my OH to push his chair neatly under the table after eating, thus removing the easy route.
Butter overdose!
Butter overdose!
Springer spaniel Marti had Epi, PLE , MMM just to confuse me. She lived till 12yrs, chubby and happy despite eight years of epi.
Capsule enzymes suited her best. B12 supplements made her into a new dog!
After a cocker with PLN kidney disease, I now have two healthy rescues, a lively, suicidal , small ginger terrier, adopted with pneumonia, and gum disease needing nearly all his teeth out, and a fluffy grey toy poodle/terrier from Greece.

Re: Butter overdose!
Hmmm Patsy, good question. Our cocker once ate a pound of margarine.
Naughty little terriers they are for sure as you know I know lol.
Seems it would be out of his system by 24- 36 hours. Since hi pancreas functions fine not sure extra would help. Will wait to hear others opinion.
