My Nikki :(
My Nikki :(
I am pretty certain that we are dealing with perianal fistulas now on top of everything else and I'm devastated. She is such sweet girl and doesn't deserve this at all.
Tomorrow I'm calling Texas A&M to get her seen at Dermatology to see what our treatment options are.
Nikki's birthday is in November and she will be ten years old. Just the other day I was asking myself how many years we have left together...guess I got my answer.
This is so unfair and in the end I won't let her suffer. I can't stop crying, my heart is broken.

Re: My Nikki :(
Long story Jean that started with her infected anal glands a few years ago. Once they were removed she started licking the area every day. They thought maybe it was from scar tissue bothering her. Took her to Texas A&M and the Dermatologist said it could be from scar tissue or perianal fistulas that haven't broken through the skin yet.
Earlier this week she was really going at it and I found a quarter size spot of blood on her bed, which never happened before. She has been wearing her cone to prevent further damage back there and this morning when I checked her there was blood all the way around her anus. Also last night when I tried to apply her ointment she showed pain which is not normal for her.

Re: My Nikki :(
No worms or fleas that I know of.
It's not that bad yet but the pain and bleeding are sure signs, considering her history. I will also take her to her regular vet to see if there is anything we can do while waiting to take her to A&M.

Jean: I haven't tried to put any ointment there since last night when she showed pain, I will try again in a little while. I have some pain meds at home and will give her some also.
