I would feed 150% of the recomended food on the bag for the weight the dog SHOULD be over as many meals as you can, all enzymed
the B12 will help to digest the food too
keep a diary of everything you do
my girl put 50 pounds on after diagnosis over maybe 3 years, so dont worry

The dosage for 8X is 3/4 teaspoon per 1 cup of food, but I'm sure you know this.---Pam
Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.

Re: What to feed my dog to help gain weight
Hi there. If your dog was 95lbs before losing weight than you want to feed 150% of what the recommended amount is for 95lbs. My boy was the same - 95lbs before weight loss - he lost 20lbs so he was 75lbs at diagnosis - I feed 150% of the amount of food for 95lbs - which I think was just over 7cups a day - SO I divided into 4 meals - yes this was a PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT because I had to feed at 4:30am then 6:30 am then 6:30 pm and 8:30pm, HOWEVER, following the protocol he gained his weight back in 6 weeks and then we were able to reduce to 6 cups a day divided into 3 meals 6:30am, 6:30pm and 8:30pm.
As for B12, shots do not necessarily work better and will not necessarily help weight gain/digestion vs. the capsules. In fact the capsules have been shown in many cases to work better than the shots. We recommend the shot protocol by Texas A&M as it's backed by research, HOWEVER, what we have observed over the past 10yrs is that the WonderLabs Pet Factor B12 pills work in more than 90% of our dogs. Texas A&M also has a great video on their website regarding intrinsic factor and how it helps in the absorption of B12 which the WonderLabs pills have. Regardless of what you use, just know that B12 supplementing is for life.

Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

Re: What to feed my dog to help gain weight
Thanks for the info! Im excited to try the tablets and see how it helps!
Mom of a 4 year old german shepherd dog named Ruxin. Confirmed EPI since 2019. Well maintained with 2c twice daily of Fromm dry food with 2T diane enzymes and 1 capsule b12 with intrinsic factor from wonderlabs per serving and a sprinkle of slippery elm in the morning to maintain.
Re: What to feed my dog to help gain weight
Hi Taryn,
The amount of enzyme you use is directly related to the amount of food you are feeding. If you are using powdered Porcine enzymes 6x strength it is 1 teaspoon enzyme per 1 cup kibble. This is the start point.
As Pam noted if you are using the 8x it is 3/4 teaspoon enzyme per 1 cup kibble.
