Thank you all for the useful info. Amber is doing better and this particular probiotic seems to be ok with her. Mind you, I don't give a full dose but am giving a sprinkle with each meal. I looked at the Tylan( tylosine) on both websites. One says OTC and the other says prescription only . Since she recovered within days with the bland diet and probiotics, I attribute the glitch to the antibiotics given for her infection. Since we never knew where the infection was, only another blood test will confirm wether it has resolved. Add to this that we are in the middle of packing for our move and that this week , she is experiencing seizures. Amber is epileptic and this is "normal" for her but still distressing for me .

Just a thought but have you tried CBD oil to help with seizures? The FDA not too long ago approved the firstCBD for treatment of seizures in children. I use it with my jack russell for anxiety with great results. You might run it by your vet.

Tylan used to be non prescription. If you look around some places still have it non prescription. Otherwise your vet needs to write you one.

Thanks Jill. She is already on CBD and has been for a long time. It used to give us 8 weeks seizure free but is no longer working .

That is interesting. Have you thought of taking a week off CBD and then restart?
Not sure how they are handling the childrens doses who are on it for seizures. Wonder how they deal with tolerance build-up with them?

Do you know what is causing your dog to have seizures???? The reason I ask is because I have a dog that had a grand maul seizure because I was putting baby food on his food to get him to eat a dog food he didn't like. Stupid me .... there is onion powder in the baby food that is sold stopped the baby food . He was better. But, then I gave him some peanut butter the same thing started. Stopped the peanut butter seizures stop, two other things rye bread and also swiss cheese ... Never gave him any of the ones I mentioned and he hasn't had a seizure for years. I feel bad for you and your dog. But, I thought I might share my experience and maybe this might give you a thought of something you might be giving your dog that could be stopped and your dog will hopefully feel better. Best to you.

Thank you. She has been an epileptic since before 2 yrs of age . She was already on meds when I adopted from a rescue . They got her and she had a bad case of contagious mange and gave her strong chemical meds to kill the ? mites . I've tried everything under the sun to help . Unfortunately , the meds contributed to pancreatitis and here we are . Since my posting I have been successful in adding probiotics to her food and she is slowly getting better. as far as digestion goes, that is

Hi Cheryl - glad to hear your sweet Amber is responding well to the probiotics. I know you've been through the ringer with her - sending hugs and prayers.
