Some dogs will eat the Tylan (Tylosin Tartrate )powder mixed in with their food. .. other dogs will not eat their food if Tylan is mixed in.
My dog looked at me as if i was trying to poison her and then REFUSED to eat for 2 days after i sprinkled the Tylan in her food... but i am too cheap to buy the machine...so i just made a tiny paper funnel and used that to pour the designated amount of Tylan powder in empty gel caps.... :)
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

Adding another tangent: There was a question about dosage chart, and that reminded me of hearing about a poop chart, which I've been unable to find. Where is it, please? Thanks, Pam
Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.

Hi Pam, here is the poop chart:

https://epi4dogs.com/poop-chart/

Above where you write a message, in the orange banner with dog silhouette, to the upper right are 3 white hash marks. Hit that and chose
EPI4DOGS, Load that page, then hit the hash marks on that page and it brings up all the information you need to know.

Thank you, Jill! I found the poop chart, and now I realize Tucker has small bowel diarrhea from time to time. The list of causes is long, and to repeat, Tucker takes Diane's enzymes, Wonderlabs B12, and 1/4 t tylan 2X day. Sometimes I wonder, should I be happy things are OK most of the time, or should I keep working on this? He still poops 6 times a day, but since that's down from 12, and the volume is way less, I've been pretty happy. Maybe I've been fooling myself, but then again things used to be soooo bad. ---Pam

Well, there are always things you can tweak, a little less or more enzyme, find a food that agrees more(does your pups food have peas or lentils, maybe the protein doesn't set well, etc.). Some dogs are on tylan for life, as when they stop SID returns. Are the poops formed or what are they on the chart?
If things are ok and weight is being gained, maybe just breathe a couple days and see how things go.

Hi Jill! Well, his poop's a 3, but if you go down to the very last picture on the page, small bowel diarrhrea, that is what we get about once a day. Do you think his 6 poops a day is ok, since it's so much better than before? He also has tons more energy, he's in a better mood, and he doesn't seem interested in eating poo these days. He eats Blue Buffalo chicken & brown rice, plus turkey bone broth. You know, I may give a tad less enzyme tomorrow & see what happens. Thanks!---Pam

Pam, what I would try next is a grain free diet without the brown rice. I would look on the dog food options page and go with one with no peas nor legumes.
The grains in the food can decrease the efficacy of the enzymes. I would use the ratio of 1 teaspoon 6x enzyme to 1 cup kibble and over a week transition go to the grain free diet. That is what I would do.

Hi there. I am so sorry I am SO late to respond. I agree with Jill - if you are still seeing off poops, try switching to a grain free food - grains interfere with the efficacy of enzymes but by how much we have no idea. There are some, but few, EPI dogs that actually do better on grains but the majority don't so I would consider changing to a grain free food with 4% fiber or less, avoid or limit peas and chicken. Several of us have had great results using Sport Dog Food Elite. If you do decide to change the food, do it slowly over 7 days and keep a detailed log. My vet, and I agree, always says after the 7 day change, give it 2 weeks for the body to fully adjust unless you are having diarrhea.

DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

Just checked in to see the date of my original post, and calculated we are on day 33, and here's what I see----poo itself is smaller, firmer, and usually browner. BUT, Tucker still poops 4-6 times a day(this is down from 10-12 enormous yellow milkshake poos). I just don't know! I can easily pick it up, he has put on weight, and he no longer eats poo & randomly attacks our other, much smaller dogs. Twelve more days, and we will try the weaning process again. So, in a nutshell, Tucker eats 2 cups of kibble(Blue Buffalo 4 % fiber), laced with rich turkey broth, 2 teaspoons diane enzymes, 1 capsule wonderlabs B12, and 1/4 teaspoon tylan, two times/day. Could it be conditioning, that he is so used to pooping every time he goes outside, that he just continues the practice? He looks and acts so fine! Thanks, as always---Pam
