Thank you, your kind words mean a world to us! I have been a member of this blog since 2007 (had a different account before). I can't even describe how grateful I am for all your help, especially back then Winston was diagnosed with EPI, diagnosed with the help of this site! I stumbled upon EPI4dogs in a complete moment of desperation when we saw Winston wasting in front of our eyes and our vet was insisting on testing him for giardia. We were able to successfully manage his condition all these years with just a few setbacks, until a few months ago when all his systems were slowly shutting down. First of all, 1.5 years ago, he was diagnosed with melanocytic glaucoma - another hereditary condition. At least this time it's documented only in Cairn terriers, unlike we had to "borrow" EPI from German Shepherds:( He lost his eyesight a year ago but still was able to enjoy life.
Winston was a gentle soul with all kinds of anxiety problems - did not want anyone to leave the house, hated cars driving by, did not like ice dispenser, exhaust fan, etc. but absolutely loved and insisted on being vacuumed... go figure:)
On Saturday morning he basically lost the use of his back legs and all day Saturday and Sunday night we were asking him to let it go and run run run... and Winston listened. The good-byes were hard, but he did not suffer too long, and, thankfully, we did not have to make probably the hardest decision of our lives. Thank you for reading this and thank you for everything again.
When the light in your eyes is gone, can you fight through the darkness with your heart?

It is so hard to say good bye.... My Izzy was diagnosed with EPI in 2006.... and she is now 14+ years old. Although she is still happy, she is failing, sleeps a lot, is blind and deaf now too....and it breaks my heart knowing she is in the twilight of her years.

I think about that day that is coming, just like yours did with Winston.... and i cry. I swear these EPI dogs form extra special bonds with us, quirks and all.... and life becomes a little less bright when they leave us.

Blessings to you Winston wherever your celestial essence is ...................

What a beautiful tribute to Winston! I am so sorry for your loss, yet I can also sense the peace you feel. You did everything possible to give Winston a wonderful life.....and he became your gift. It is so amazing how that happens.

Thank you for sharing that lovely video. Winston continues to share his light.

Hugs.
