Frozen beef pancreas for feeding

Post by Beckett » 20 Oct 2019, 12:18

Hi, I've just joined the forum because my GSD (Beckett) has EPI. He was diagnosed earlier this year and it was a struggle finding the right meds for him. We started with Pancrezyme powder, which he ate at first but then wouldn't. So next, I found a rancher in Georgia who sells beef pancreas (frozen) and ordered 10 lbs of that--Beckett ate one pound of it raw then said "Ick." So that left us with the pills, which our vet (an Internal Medicine specialist) was skeptical of using because so many other IMs on her list serv said they weren't effective. But with Beckett they're very effective and I'm ecstatic. He's a new dog with those pills!
That said, I now have 8 lbs of frozen beef pancreas that I'd like to give to a dog who needs it. I'd prefer to not have to ship it, so if you're in California's Sonoma County area (or even the greater Bay Area), please let me know.

Hi Lisa! So glad you found what worked for your Beckett. Every EPI dog is different and what works for one might not work for another but we always say, give it a try.
Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.
