Hi Mary, and welcome to you and Josie.

That yellow stuff (bile) that you are seeing is not from the enzymes, but it is most likely from SID (small intestinal dysbiosis) or some sort of bacterial infection/upset in her gut.
Unfortunately many vets still prescribe Metronidazole for SID when Tylan (Tylosin Tartrate) works MUCH better. Sometimes Metronidazole works, sometimes it doesn't. Whereas Tylan (Tylosin Tartrate) works most of the time.

With EPI dogs, they ALL have SID (small intestinal dysbiosis) to one degree or another. Our objective as an EPI care-giver is to keep it in good control. We don't treat unless we see repeated signs/symptoms of SID. SID signs are:

" any yellowish-coloring to the stools, loose stools, gelatinous stool coating, flatulence, lack of appetite, stomach noises, upchucking, vomiting with bile, low or low normal B12 then treat for possible secondary SID/SIBO (with Tylosin [preferred] or Metronidazole, or in some cases Amoxycillin. Tylosin appears to work best for the majority of EPI dogs with SID/SIBO"

Give things another day to see if the yellow bile subsides.... if not, call your vet and ask for Tylan or Tylosin Tartrate instead of the Metro.

Also... just want to verify.... you are mixing the enzymes in the food, adding enough liquid to moisten the enzymes in the food, mixing it and then and letting it all sit for about 20 minutes before serving... correct??? I am assuming you have the enzyme powder? And you are giving approx 1 tsp of enzymes per 1 cup of food (kibble) or 3/4 tsp of enzymes per 1 cup canned food???
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

welcome Mary from the UK

can you tell us more about Josie, what your journey was to EPI

what are you feeding ? we recommend in the main, grain free low fibre food , most of our dogs dont tollerate chicken in dog food , mine included

if there was a dramatic weight loss the idea is to feed 50% over, and above whats on the food bag for the weight they SHOULD be

As Olesia said, Tylan is the one we all use, and it works

the yellow mucous what time of the day is this >

you might want to look at Enzyme Diane for discounted and widely used enzymes

https://enzymediane.com/

we are here for any questions

Hi Mary. A warm welcome to you and Josie.

One thing that really helped us when Kolby was diagnosed (he passed in January at 11 years from unrelated cancer) was keeping a daily log. Record everything that you give Josie (food, enzymes, meds, etc.), the amounts and the resulting poos. It really helps to tell you what is working and what isn't and what might need to be adjusted. It also helps when you need to make changes, You can download a log form from our site or use a notebook. This is the hardest time, the beginning of treatment, so don't be discouraged. We have all been where you are. It will get easier once you get everything balanced.

Hi Mary! Welcome to our EPI family. Olesia has given you great advice so I just wanted to welcome you and let you know we are here to help. Please keep us posted on how things are going. Are you supplementing B12?
Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

THANK YOU ALL for being so kind.I have her on metro until i recieve the tylosin which i had to order from vet med pharmacy through my vet. Im have alot of trouble getting her to eat her food with the enzyme on it,which i do mix and wait at least 30 minutes to feed. She is on a b12 injection once a week as well.she is on a low fiber food, salmon,no chicken,as even in my healthy dogs, chicken causes issues:/ Im keeping a detailed diary, and i now have access to all the fresh raw beef pancreas i need:)i havent switched to the raw pancreas yet as i just got my first bulk amount.

put it into a blender and blend to a paste or similar, the amount people use is roughly 4ozs per meal but you would need to tweak somewhere along the line to see what is suitable for your dog

or chop which ever, just make sure its divided amongst the meal

you can then freeze it into ice cube holders or similar

My Kara would have nothing to do with it, the face said it all

Good luck
