hey we are doing a rain dance over here for you

My Kara took a long time to gain weight

at her worst she was 39 pounds, and like a skeleton, we had to put a t shirt on her so people wouldnt threaten to report me for cruelty !

she slowly gained up to 60 pounds but this was over a year, or more, my vet was happy with her but she needed to gain, her big issue was she was so damned lively, poor cat got chased everywhere, but it woke him up, we lost him at 20, lovely cat

we changed enzymes and we turned a massive corner

she steadly climbed up to 90 pounds and stabalised until we lost her to DM May 2019

hang in there she will make it maybe she is meant to be lean and not mean !

what was her weight prior to all of this

Lowest weight 39 pounds

We used Panzym enzymes, Tylan and Chemeyes b12 capsules

Sadly, on 10th May 2019, we lost her to DM

Thanks for the encouragement Jean

She was thin when we got her as a rescue in Aug 2018.... 25kg.
She has only lost 3.4kg ... but didn't have it to lose.

I think we were "lucky" to catch this relatively early due to her working on other ailment (eosinophilic gastroenteritis)thinking that she was still losing weight because of that.

Thankfully our Vet was proactive about the EPI and getting her tested.
Apparently Shepherds are over represented in both of the illnesses :(

Stinking hot and humid here today...again ...but both pups are at my feet as I type :D :D

I have had three Shepherds, and between them they have had most things !

Thank you for rescuing her, whatever issues they give you, they are worth it, mine were all fabulous, Kara the female was the most difficult, I always found Males were more biddable. Kara had to argue !

its raining here all day so far, and very warm

As long as you are not losing weight you're headed in the right direction. It takes some longer to gain weight than others but it sounds like you're on the right track. Hang in there and keep us posted.
Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

have you a picture of her standing up and one looking down on her back

I took nothing of Kara at her worst, she was referred to the university vet hospital here under a wonderful man

https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/sath/about- ... ex-german/

and her situation was described as massively emaciated, I was convinced we would lose her

My vet, Uncle Ian, no relative, said you are not losing her on my watch !

https://epi4dogs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=841

Then I found EPI4DOGS and found a life line, and, am proud to be forum director, somewhat bemused at being chosen at the time , but here I am

Kara was a lunatic, full of fun, and loved everyone , but not dogs !

We havent got a dog at the moment, I am awaiting spinal surgery as I cant walk far, so it would be impossible, but who knows, one will find me and I would take another EPI dog on

so keep your cool, and carry on
