Dog treats

Post by Pnagasaki » 31 Jul 2020, 01:43

Does anyone know if you can put the enzymes on Hills dog treat or any other kind of treats for my dog. She gets so sad that everyone else has a bone before going to bed. I’ve been giving her food but she’s not happy with it. She wants a cookie

Hi Patricia! Sorry for the late reply. It's hard to put the enzymes on a pre-made treat like that, but there are other options. We don't recommend treats at all until your dog has been stable for a couple months, just to make sure they are doing well before starting something that could make them backslide. As with everything else EPI, every dog is different when it comes to treats, so you will have to experiment and keep track of what you are giving and how it affects her. Take a look at this page on our website for different ideas. You may find one that works for Bella. https://epi4dogs.com/treats/
My dogs all love ice cubes, so that might be something to try.

Patricia, it's Pam in Florida. I, too, have multiple dogs, and I will not break Tucker's heart by giving everyone but him a cookie. He has been on the protocol for 15 months, and is doing very well. He gets a cookie when I give treats, but I give his last, and I break it in half. Initially, when we were first into the program, I would put a touch of enzyme on a dollop of cream cheese, have him eat it, and then give him his cookie. Newman's Own and Old Mother Hubbard seem to work well for him, and since he only gets about three bites a day, I no longer stress over the enzymes at treat time. I am fastidious about enzymes and marinating at mealtime, though, and if the cookie treats ever start to bother him we will have to change our routine.
Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.
