ENZYMES IN UK

Post by Jean » 29 Aug 2020, 11:13

We have been informed by the VMD (Veterinary Medicines Directorate) that Pancreatic Enzymes, which are currently classified as a food supplement, are to be reclassified as medicinal product. This is not specific to Chemeyes and will affect all enzyme supplements currently available.
Only companies that have a medicinal license to supply pancreatic enzymes will be able to sell this product. Chemeyes are in the process of obtaining the necessary license but until we have this in place we will no longer be able to supply to our customers.
We have been given a window to inform our customers of this change and can continue to supply until the end of September after which, residual stocks that are already in other retail outlets such as Amazon, can continue to be purchased.
We would urge you to consult with your vet to discuss what options are available for you. They may be able to supply our product to you under their guidance but we have no confirmation of this.
We will keep you updated with any further information, in the meanwhile please feel free to contact us directly with any questions you have.

I have every intention of writing to the CEO of this organisation to ask questions tomorrow, if anyone has ideas let me know

I am certain there will be a cut off date as to when companies can no longer sell these products, therefore we need to be forewarned, and forearmed

Thanks for posting this Jean.... it is VERY upsetting.

Also.... Thank you for taking the lead on this and your plan to contact the VMD. I would like to know WHY they are reclassifying it since it is NOT a blood or plasma product.
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

I will do this via their CEO, and ask questions

this will potentially put costs up, I am sure the insurance companies over here will not be impressed, however, we need to know what this means
