Graphic - what is this in her poop?
Willow’s poop has really been firming up the past few days - then she passed this tonight. I think it looks like part ofher insides??? Iremember someone mentioning ‘shedding her bowel”... is this what this looks like?
Debating on going to emergency vet. Willow is acting perfectly fine but this is freaking me out.

Re: Graphic - what is this in her poop?
Yes, that does look like lining shedding..... which is nothing to get concerned about... HOWEVER... if Willow starts acting "sick" (vomiting, lethargic, etc) , then bring her to the vet just in case this is hemorrhagic gastroenteritis(HGA)... or something else that needs medical attention.
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

Oh you are an angel to look at and reply to my question tonight! Sincerely, thank you. To know that there is a possible benign reason for the way her stool looks will allow to sleep a bit tonight.
On a side note, there is a surprising dearth of photos of stools in the internet! I couldn’t find anything at all that looked like what Willow passed.

Re: Graphic - what is this in her poop?
Although i cannot guarantee this.... we have seen a good handful of poop pictures that look exactly like this pic of Willows poo.... and most have been the lining shedding.... BUT i do remember one that was gastroenteritis.....so you just never know........ keep a close eye on her and if anything else seems off, even a little bit, i'd bring her to the vet.... or maybe just bring her to the vet today just to have her checked over completely and to make sure all is well...

Re: Graphic - what is this in her poop?
Hi
Kara had this, it is definitely bowel shedding due to SIBO/SID Small intestianal Bacterial Overgrowthl Small Intestinal Dysbiosis, same thing
My vet Uncle Ian , no relative, was well into this one and said the bowel recovers very quickly so long as you rest it
anyway we upped the antibiotics in UK and fed her scrambled eggs and mashed potato , no meat of any sort for a week, trouble is, she loved it and demanded it for her going to bed meal for life

Thank you Jean and Olesia!
Oh my, Willow would adore scrambled eggs on the reg. I did just get more eggs...
We spoke to but did not see our vet today. She also agreed it is sloughing. She prescribed one week worth of Albon. Not sure why she didn’t prescribe Tylon, and I wish I had asked. If you have any thoughts on Albon vs Tylon please let me know. I haven’t yet begun the Albon.

Re: Graphic - what is this in her poop?
i would start the Albon... my thought is that Albon is probably more suited to treating this situation. Both Tylan and ALbon attack nasty little bacterial bugs... but, but supposedly Albon, it also is used for addressing soft tissue issues too.... so it just might be more appropriate with the sloughing...........

Re: Graphic - what is this in her poop?
Ah! Thank you for the advice and layman’s terms! I envy your command of these subjects.. ‘Nasty little bugs’ is about my speed... I had been looking at some drug info online and finding it all very hard to parse! My degree in literature at least gives me the stamina to try and make sense of the jargon but unfortunately my scientific background ends at college bio 101!

Hi Jennifer. Just wanted to see how Willow is doing today. Yes we are all lost without Olesia - I don't know where she stores all that information in her brain but she is amazing!!
If you have time, please pop in and let us know how your girl is doing.
