Epi4Dogs Foundation's official position on the Grain-Free/Food Taurine issue from the Founder and Research Director, Olesia Kennedy:
Ultimately it is up to the care-giver to decide what to feed their dog ... but Epi4Dogs suggests the best way to handle this situation with an EPI dog who tends to fare better with "grain-less" foods as grains can inhibit the efficacy of the much needed enzymes that an EPI dog needs to survive ... is to scrutinize the ingredients of any commercial dog food and try to avoid foods with any pea ingredients.

Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

Neither of my two dogs have EPI. Their vet emailed me a couple of days ago and was worried about their diet. I emailed back that the Acana Appalachian Ranch has 6 red meat ingredients before peas are listed. Their food is 70% red meat and white fish . The vet has the link but didn't bother to actually look at the ingredients. I feel having 6 meats listed above the peas is safe. Plus the dogs LOVE it.
The vet should have read the ingredients before emailing me all worried, in my opinion.
