Slippery Elm dosing
Slippery Elm dosing
6 yo shepherd/malinois dx july 2022 EPI/SID taking 6x enzymes 1 teas per cup on RC HP diet doing well , normal poops. I ordered some SE as a supplement in hopes it would help prevent flare ups and help with some tummy issues (sometimes he seems like he has an upset stomach as he will still eat grass or refuse meals). However i am not sure how much to give for a maintenance dose and when to give it to him. Should i mix with food and enzyme powder or should i mix with cottage cheese or yogurt and give at a different time than his meals? He is not currently taking any antibiotics. He does take mycophenolate for IMHA with a spoon of pumpkin daily after his breakfast.

Hi Jen, here is information that is on our site under DID/SIBO:
https://epi4dogs.com/slippery-elm/
It coats the mucose membranes. I always mixed it with a little warm water and let set to gel a little then mixed in with food.

Re: Slippery Elm dosing
i used to toss it in with the food and then add 2 tablespoons of water also cuz it is a mucilage.
My current dog doesn't like slippery elm in his food... so i add it to his spoonful of ricotta cheese that he gets after every meal as a "treat".....

Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........
