Testing with a photo , to cheer people up.
I’m trying out putting on photos, so this is for entertainment only.
This was Marti, at about 6yrs old, two years after everything went haywire with Epi and PLE, and she dropped to 17kg,close to death. She lived to 12yrs.
I hope this gives hope to new members !

Springer spaniel Marti had Epi, PLE , MMM just to confuse me. She lived till 12yrs, chubby and happy despite eight years of epi.
Capsule enzymes suited her best. B12 supplements made her into a new dog!
After a cocker with PLN kidney disease, I now have two healthy rescues, a lively, suicidal , small ginger terrier, adopted with pneumonia, and gum disease needing nearly all his teeth out, and a fluffy grey toy poodle/terrier from Greece.

Thank you so much for that, after a tough day I needed that. I wish I could ask you some questions about giving the enzymes in capsules. Our little Lizze seems to be struggling eating the food mixed with the enzymes.Patsy wrote: ↑06 Oct 2018, 15:26 I’m trying out putting on photos, so this is for entertainment only.

In the US you can get Creon capsules. Not cheap. I’ve no experience of it, being in the UK. Do another post to ask other people about it. You can do a Search, and I believe it is described under the Enzyme section..
The key to EPI is patience, they heal internal weakening first, then muscle, before you get any fat. Some like Marti been so ill that they develop other autoimmune conditions, . If you keep a log of what you feed and dose, and corresponding daily notes of poop, ,energy, appetite, you will see the subtle changes.
If the poop gets more formed, that’s proof that digestion is happening. Some folks use a smear of cat food to trick the fuss pots, I used to spend an hour hand feeding Marti using tricks. Spaniels have very sensitive noses!
I still remember the days of mopping up floods of urine and poo in the middle of the night, days after major surgery, propping myself up on the mop. Everyone on here has a heart wrenching story to tell, so keep talking to us when you’re desperate.

I think this is the first picture I've seen of your Marti - what a handsome boy. Thank you for giving encouragement to our new and old members.
Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

Hi Patsy... WOW!!! Marti looked FABULOUS... and what a great encouragement for those just embarking on this EPI journey to see how great Marti looked 2 years AFTER being diagnosed with EPI+++.......
And you also captured what it takes to handle EPI ... "Patience"
It sure takes patience to discover what the right balance of the recommended protocol is, but my goodness, once you find the right balance for that individual EPI dog... the recovery is amazing- -well worth the wait/patience! And so many can attest to the fact that once the right balance is found, many of these dogs need to be placed on diets... such a lovely problem to have with and EPI dog, eh?!

Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........
