Hello, to all members. My sister and are new to this forum. Our puppy, D'ogee is now 5 1/2 month old Weimaraner.

This disease is so very hard to handle, as many of you already know. We adopted D'ogee when he was 4 months old. He has been ill since day one.

We are waiting to see a specialist. I want to thank management and members for all the educational information. And, I am so sorry that your pups are so ill. Many blessings to you and your fur baby.

Hi Julia and thank you for your kind words. Please tell us about your pup: food he eats, supplements given, test results if you have them. We are here to help.

Hi Julia,

I too would like to welcome you and your pup, D'ogee, although i am so sorry to hear that he is not doing well. It is so hard when they are this young and sick and you have no idea what is wrong.

As Jill said, if you want to, please let us know what D'ogee's symptoms are, and we will try and help you out as best we can.

IN the meantime, please look at keeping an EPI journal, this is one way to help you and your vet figure out what might be going on. Your og does not ahve to be an EPI dog to use one of these EPI journals.

If you write down everything you give D'ogee that he ingests, and record what his output is (poop= color, frequency, amount, texture) ... and if there are tummy noises (gas) vomiting, or bile acid reflux going on..... write all this own daily, even take poop pictures.... to go along with your notes.... what is amazing is that you will start to see a pattern of some symptoms happening after certain foods or activities......

Here is a page with various EPI journals that you might be interested in keeping.

Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

Hello, Julia. A warm welcome to you and D'ogee. I am so sorry that he is having difficulties at such a young age. If you can answer some of the questions Olesia and Jill asked that will help us to help you and your pup. Did you have him tested for EPI? If you did and you have the results, can you share them with us so we can see more clearly what is going on. If you didn't have him tested yet, let us know what his symptoms are and what you are feeding him.

I agree with Olesia that keeping a log/journal is one of the best ways to see what is going on with your pup and keep your sanity at the same time. It was a life saver for us. Record everything you give him each day, the amounts and the resulting poos.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Barb
