Back from the vets, they can see no abnormalities with his liver, normal size too, they wanted to prescribe metronidazole but I declined. They would not order or give me a prescription for Tylan, it was metronidazole or nothing, so it was nothing! I had a lecture about his diet and what they said he should be fed
Jean, I've spoken to your lady and she's given me some great advice, as you have too, thank you. Vets want him back next week for a weigh. All bloods have come back within normal range. They didn't think it was worth doing another TLI or the bile acid test so none the wiser there :? They'd like a 3 day poo sample, so that's it for now. Oh and he's dropped to 7.7kg so a 200g loss if the scales are correct :(

Update on little Teddy. Went in to the vet for a weigh in and he's gone from 7.7 to 9 kg in the past week :)
He's now eating 4 x 400g tins of Naturo a day with 1 pro-enzorb capsule in each meal. He no longer has the terrible runs or discoloured poop, his poop his soft but formed and a light brown colour and he's doing about 5-6 poops a day instead of the 10+ he was doing. I also give him 1 milk thistle tablet, 1 small scoop of B12, 1 small scoop of Treebarks powder and 1 small scoop of Protect soil based probiotic once a day, so far this seems to be keeping everything consistent. His poop sample came back has positive for campylobacter but I declined the vets treatment for this instead opting for Colloidal Silver which I've used to great effect with this in the past. So fingers crossed we carry on moving in an upward direction. Can I please ask how long I should give him the pro-enzorb at 4 x daily for at 1 capsule per meal, does it need to be reduced? I am still using the pro-enzorb because the vets charged for a new box after they had opened one when he went in for his blood test and at over £80 a box I'm not going to waste it! He will then move to the powders from Chemeyes. Teddy is very lively and appears happy and mischievious, his coat is looking amazing. Thank you for any advice :) Sandy

glad to hear how well Teddy is progressing YEA!!!!!!
And glad to hear that you will be moving to Chemeyes pancreatic enzymes AFTER you are done with the Pro-Enzorb.

Jean is the better person to ask about Pro-Enzorb dose..... but overall enzymes need to be given with every meal....so i would continue giving it with every meal, but with regards to how much with every meal.... best to ask Jean.

Update on rescue dog Teddy, now weighing in at 10.7kg, after a lot of trial and error we have him stable on a food that suits him, 4 x 395g tins a day, 6am with his B12 and 2 small scoops of the Chemeyes enzymes added then fed again at noon, 5pm and 10pm, all with 2 small scoops of enzymes which are left for 15 minutes before feeding, much to Teddys disgust as he's very impatient! Teddy is a very happy boy, is full of energy and we can finally pick up formed although a little soft poop. Sometimes they are quite firm which fills me with joy :D
The aim is for Teddy to reach 12kg and for his food to be reduced by half but to still feed 4 times a day, we'll see if he drops weight then or if he maintains his weight.
I'd like to thank Jean for putting me on to Chemeyes and for the sweetcorn trick suggested by Chemeyes which actually showed Teddy took nearly 3 days for the sweetcorn to appear showing how slow his digestion actually was!
Best wishes to everyone and thank you for all the advice, I fear we would have lost Teddy if this fabulous website didn't exist, you're all amazing!

Hi Sandy,

What a GREAT update on Teddy..... he sure is looking fabulous compared to the picture of when you first got him. HUGE difference. And i am so glad you found a food that works well with him too. I think finding the right diet (although often not easy to accomplish- -takes a lot of time!) is the final piece of the puzzle to effectively managing EPI.... and it looks like you accomplished this :) !!!!

Please continue to keep us posted on Teddy. Great job, Teddy's mom!

Hello from Yorkshire, so cross I’ve been asleep on the site for ages. My dog Marti from a long while ago, was a success story too.
I can only add my delight at your care and success, what a beautiful cocker! I had a black cocker and am still active on Cockersonline. I regularly reply to cocker owners who have symptoms of pancreatic issues. There is still so much poor advice from vets. After my lifesaving vet moved, I had to change twice, and end up doing telephone interviews with possible replacements and ask if they had any experience with epi . I got very assertive! My money!
I look forward to more updates!
Springer spaniel Marti had Epi, PLE , MMM just to confuse me. She lived till 12yrs, chubby and happy despite eight years of epi.
Capsule enzymes suited her best. B12 supplements made her into a new dog!
After a cocker with PLN kidney disease, I now have two healthy rescues, a lively, suicidal , small ginger terrier, adopted with pneumonia, and gum disease needing nearly all his teeth out, and a fluffy grey toy poodle/terrier from Greece.
