I bought 2 bully stick holders for mine so I don't have to watch the end piece being swallowed and choked. The best collagen sticks I have found are the 7 inch Red Barn that are not wrapped in plastic. For some reason some brands break off in shards so watch that.
I am so sorry you and Tucker are going through this. It's just not fair.

Thanks Jill. I gave him a twelve inch stick this morning, left for a walk, and when I came back there were three inches left. SO, I'll see if Amazon has a holder.
Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.

I got 2 of these. They are kind of heavy and clunky but accomodate a small stick or thick one.

Jill---Thank you for this. I got one, and it's great. Also, can I tell you how much Tucker is enjoying his 1/2 scoop of vanilla ice cream, after dinner each night? If he knew, he'd thank you for the suggestion! ---P

This weekend I had a terrible scare. Tucker started losing his appetite, acting strangely, and his gums turned pale. This almost certainly meant that a tumor had ruptured, and he was bleeding internally. My amazing vet, however, had given me a box of ***YUNNAN BAIYAO***, write that down, because this Chinese herb almost certainly saved him.

He had a rough day, and was picky about his eating, but upon waking this morning, I realized I had to text Dr. C. that while I'd still love for her to come examine him, I wasn't about to let him go, as well as he was acting. (I had indicated that when she came today we'd be asking her to help him on his way)

Yesterday, I was making arrangements to say good-bye to my precious boy, but today I think I may have a few months left with him. He probably has some tumors inside of him, but she doesn't think he was bleeding into his digestive system. We have now added another Chinese herb, making three in total, to try and shrink, if not keep from forming, more tumors. It's very cool, having a vet who looks at things independently from what all the journals say to do.

Additionally, I have noticed that since he's been on 1/3 teaspoon Wei Qi with every meal, his poop is great. I initially attributed this to the Fresh Pet I started feeding him, but he began refusing it last week, so it must be the herb.

Thanks for listening---Pam & Tucker

Oh Pam, i am SOOoooo sorry TUcker had such a rough time this weekend.... it sounds like what he went thru was awful and very scary!.

I looked up both yunnan baiyao for dogs... and i would have liked to know about this when my Izzy struggled with IMHA...i bet it would have helped !
there is some solid research on it too (as there often is with Chinese herbs!):
http://www.itmonline.org/articles/yunna ... paiyao.htm

I also looked up Wei Qi
https://franklintnvet.com/boosts-immunity/
another very interesting chinese herb.

Thank you for sharing ... i personally am making a note of this!

Sending Tucker many Health Vibes!

It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

Olesia, she also added "Concentrated Max's Formula"...I didn't know the name until just now. Both that and the Wei Qi can reduce the size of tumors. The company is Jing Tang.

HOWEVER, last night brought another episode, and now when Tucker eats he is refusing enzymes, for the first time ever. I guess I'll have to go with it. Really, the only thing I can get in him are the Yunnan baiyao capsules.

I signed on to ask if there's any advice on this. Is it better that he eats & doesn't digest it well, than not eating at all? Should I put some enzymes into capsules, even though, there will be less enzymes than normal? I shared with Sabrina, what my vet says, "If he's eating he's not dying". So, for this day, with 1 1/2 fried eggs, four chicken gizzards, and half a scoop of vanilla ice cream in him, he's very tired, but he's breathing. His taste in food has gone through some changes, and at this point I'm trying to make him happy. If I risk making him feel worse by leaving the enzymes out, though, I'll capsule them.

Bless him. He's been through so much. I love this dog. ---P
