Micrazym 25,000
Re: Micrazym 25,000
Thanks for the info Jeremy. I will check to see if this is available in Canada. If it is, it most likely it will be prescription status. I can get Creon at cost but going to the vet for rx's is just a hassle so I will stick with EnzymeDiane.

Beatrice, you actually *can* order Micrazym. I don't know how or why, but they fo ship to Canada.
It's sold through Amazon (.com); but they do ship to Canada. It's not available on Canadian site. It's no cheaper than Creon though. It's approximately the same price, so right now I don't see a benefit. But if Creon does get harder to find before the shortage ends, I might change my mind! That is why I wondered if it truly was as strong as Creon!

Chance was my 4 legged soul mate. My mobility assist service dog. Pure yellow Lab, 75 lbs. After struggling with weight all his life, finally dx with EPI. cTLI < 1, folate and B12 very low. Fed Raw. Maintained with Creon, Garden of Life probiotic and intermittent calcium bentonite clay. (Tylosin was a big nightmare for him)!
Rylee is Chance's successor; also pure Yellow/Fox red Lab. Started with symptoms at 8 weeks. At 6 months of age, also prescribed Creon due to suspected EPI (due to passing large amounts of undigested food). Currently suspected of blockages in pancreatic ducts. She is maintained VERY nicely on Creon and probiotics. Also raw fed.

Sadly, Creon is readily available in America. If you can get a prescription and insurance it might be cheaper. If you get the human version.
This stuff is a good replacement though. As far as we can tell (1) 25000 capsule is enough for 3/4th cup of taste of the wild Appalachian mountain recipe. Once he gets stable again we are going to experiment with less. If we can find a way to accurately measure it.

Even at cost, Creon is still way more expensive than EnzymeDiane. But it's such a chore filling up those capsules with the powder. I can always order to be sent to my nephew in Texas but since Micrazyme is not any cheaper than Creon, I will keep with EnzymeDiane.Chance wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 13:45 Beatrice, you actually *can* order Micrazym. Re: Micrazym 25,000
Yeah price wise it is about the same as Enzyme Diane. It's a little more for a 5 month supply.
What I do like about it though;
No incubation/not having to get pills in Eddie. The 00 capsules are a little too big for him. Filling a bunch of size 1/2 capsules is a chore
Not having to worry about the temperature of the food. We sometimes feed Eddie fresh food, farmer's dog/Ollie which has to be refrigerated. We usually add a little hot water to try to get it room temperature, but this way no need.
Time, I don't want to say it took hours filling a weeks worth of capsules. It maybe took 20-30 minutes, but it did feel like it took hours. It can be incredibly tedious.
I am in no way saying people should switch. Whatever works for each person is perfect. I am only sharing how it has gone so far.

Re: Micrazym 25,000
Thanks Jeremy for all you information with this.... and although, as you said "whatever works for each person" is true, and we are recommending one product over another...... it is still very good information and useful tips/tricks with how to use Micrazym comparatively.... Your trials (and thanks Eddie for use too!!!) are VERY helpful to those who decide to go this route.
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........
Re: Micrazym 25,000
I also agree this is incredibly valuable information. Especially since Micrazym is apparently the only enteric coated enzyme available without prescription.
I think I will eventually try Micrazym, to compare to Creon. I've read several reviews that suggest it's not quite as strong as Creon. Others seem to suggest it's very similar.
I'd have to order Micrazym from the US. But since it's on Amazon, I think there would be little risk of it being eaten by Customs. But it might be easier to compare strengths for a bigger dog, who does require more pills. I think with shipping, and exchange, it would be more expensive though :/ and I am as poor as a church mouse right now
