Hi Nicole,

Ys... since Cali is a wee little thing of approx 12 lbs... give her just 1/2 capsule a day. You can open the capsule up and just sprinkle and mix in her food (as long as there is some wet food in her food) :)

Ok great, thank you. And the trazadone? Is it safe for her to have, as far as it won’t screw anything up with Epi or diabetes?

Good morning from the UK

she is wee thats for sure

I will ask Olesia for you about Trazadone, I have no idea and it doesnt say anything helpful anywhere, but it will only be short lived during the flight I assume

Yes, Trazadone is safe for dogs.....(and people).... and it is fine to give to a dog with EPI.

it supposedly will calm them down. However i looked up some adverse affect and will post here... simply because my doctor also prescribed Trazadone for me personally (i have trouble sleeping) and it made me queasy to my stomach.... i didn't like taking it for myself.

SOOoooo... here is a short vet article on it....
https://todaysveterinarynurse.com/artic ... -medicine/

If it make you nervous to give a chemical drug though, maybe ask your vet about giving something like BACH "Rescue Remedy" for dogs, or
an herbal tincture (this is what i did ) made of either Valerian or Passion Flower or sometimes you can find a mixture of both used together....

Hi Nicole, just wanted to say that both Kiya and TJ use/used Trazadone when we are on the boat. If we are going to have a particularly rough crossing over a bodY of water I will give TJ one 50mg tab (he is 20lbs)at least an hour before with food. It settles him down and he is more mellow. Any chance you can try it before hand when you can observe before you are in the plane situation? Ask your vet. Probably around 25mgs.
Keep us up to date.

Jill

I second Rescue Remedy! As long as I am home when the thunder or fireworks begin, or if I am sure it will probably start within a couple of hours after I've left, I just squirt some on his tongue and it really, really helps. It does wear off, though, probably faster than a prescription drug.

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing great! We are in the middle of a move so the last few months have been hectic.
Cali has been doing great. We took a trip back home to my home town and she had the time of her life.
She has been having solid poops, and things are going great with her EPI AND DIABETES management. I do have to bring her in for another curve to double check we are still in the right track with her insulin dosage, but am waiting til we actually move and get settled. (I hate pricking her at home)
I do have a question about her recent changes to acid reflux. She has been doing it more. She doesn’t actually throw up. But regurgitates more frequently then swallowing it. She is currently taking Prilosec. But it doesn’t seem to be working. (This is along with the slip elm) I wondered if generic Pepcid would be better for her? I do have a box of 20mg on hand, I don’t think she needs that much, but maybe half a pill? I’m not sure? Ideally I would like to get away from any medicines at all. I would like to be able to calm with something else if it works. This seems to be the only problem we are having right now, but I feel bad for her, I don’t imagine that can be comfortable.
Let me know if anyone has any ideas?
Thank you!

Good morning! Nice to hear things are going well.
Is Cali on a probiotic? Maybe the slippery elm and a probiotic will help. It sounds maybe like SID? If you have any Tylan you might consider a course.
Are you supplementing B12?
