Hi! Finally got our boy’s poos looking good! Now we have a new issue.. he doesn’t have good range of motion in his hips. We live in a house where the bathroom is upstairs so he’s constantly following us around. We’ve been limiting the amount of times he comes up and down the steps, but I’ve noticed recently that he is now coming down on both front legs.. like hopping. Before he would use one leg at a time. He’s also very sore when getting up. We rescued him and are thinking he’s around 10-11. I just want to make him comfortable and i know aspirin isn’t recommended for EPI.

Our vet recommended Gabapentin, but I have known 3 dogs who lost the use of their back legs and eventually lost all control of their bodies and passed away from Gabapentin so I’m definitely not okay with this. Any other suggestions on what we can give him that I can recommend to my vet?

I used Galliprant for Kiya with great results:

She was not Epi.

It's so hard to watch them getting older and being uncomfortable. I make turkey wing bone broth, which my vet says contains glucosamine. I have shared the video here before, with permission, so I'll hope it's ok to do that again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-8lrXg4cEo

It is, of course, delicious, and they lap it up. From the fridge, I add hot water to bring it up to room temp, and use it for the marinating liquid for Tucker's enzymed meals. ---Pam
