Kenzie
Kenzie
Our precious girl left us today. She went downhill last night and this morning could hardly move. Our lovely vets scanned her and found a tumour on her spleen and the pancreas. Nothing could be done we had to let her go. Our hearts are broken.
Kenzie diagnosed Sept 2015. Fed 3 times a day on Millies Wolfheart, Panzym enzymes 1+ tsp per 120grams food, 1/8 tsp tylan twice a day, altenate 1/2 b12 per day. Also on 1 previcox a day for arthritis in paws and 1 Apoquel for allergies. Diagnosed with poor heart contractibility Sept 2020, on 1 Vetmedin twice a day. 2nd heart scan March 21 shows little deterioration so appear to be working.
Latest TLI was 5.5 Previous readings have been TLI - 3.4 and 4.2.

Re: Kenzie
oh NO!!!!!! i am so so SO sorry..... your hearts surely must be broken. We know you did everything possible to help Kenzie do well..... and she did for a long time... but when they start suffering for other issues and you know there is no coming back, it shatters your heart to have to let them go.... but you love them too much just to let them hurt so much.
Sending you many, Many comforting hugs and may the essence of sweet Kenzie forever be in your hearts, and may her spirit run free and pain free.
She was such a beautiful girl....

Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........
Re: Kenzie
I am so sorry you had to say goodbye to your beautiful Kenzie. What a love. It is so hard when they turn a corner so quickly. I know your hearts are shattered. Our pups are so much a part of us, of our daily lives, of every waking moment. We feel their absence so keenly. As you walk the difficult path of grief toward healing, I hope the emptiness you feel now will become the space that allows Kenzie's Light to shine through.
Hugs.

Now there's Nina. 5 year old GSD. TLI 1.0 B12 323. We are still tweaking her routine, and getting lots of help from the forum. She is klutzy and goofy, and we love her dearly, too.

Re: Kenzie
So so sad, it’s always heartbreaking. Xxx
Springer spaniel Marti had Epi, PLE , MMM just to confuse me. She lived till 12yrs, chubby and happy despite eight years of epi.
Capsule enzymes suited her best. B12 supplements made her into a new dog!
After a cocker with PLN kidney disease, I now have two healthy rescues, a lively, suicidal , small ginger terrier, adopted with pneumonia, and gum disease needing nearly all his teeth out, and a fluffy grey toy poodle/terrier from Greece.

Re: Kenzie
Oh my. Kenzie was a beauty -- and clearly very deeply loved. I am so sorry.
Trixie is an Australian cattle dog or mix, likely born in the Fall of 2020. Picked up as a stray, she was already suffering undiagnosed EPI when we adopted her. Test later showed TLI <1 and cobalamin 189.
Her (non-standard) treatment is 1900 mcg of pure freeze-dried pork pancreas from Allergy Research Group per day. Also 1/4 teaspoon of slippery elm powder and 1/2 (previously one) capsule a day of WonderLabs TrinFac-B, all mixed into her food and served immediately, without the usual 20-minute wait.
We feed Canidae Angus Beef and Barley, which may not yet be the perfect food, but she's doing well and has "happy" normal poops.
