hi Shawn, if you want to try and remove the rice..... try supplementing with baked, mashed, skinned white potato..... they are now saying that white potato does NOT cause inflammation, etc. but rather is actually good . (NOt really sure what the real truth is, cause this seems to happen a lot, where one food item falls out of favor for years and then discovered later that it was all falsehoods....)

OR... you can just increase the sweet potato to cover the rice.
Or...if she can handle dairy.... try given a little cottage cheese

I was speaking with the vet the other day when I brought Piper in for a nail trim and to get a refill of her enzymes and tylan. I asked again about the amount of enzymes and the vet said 1 tsp.

So while I know Piper get 10 or 11 oz of food a meal I actually measured it today and it is between approx 1.75 cups of food each meal. That has me thinking if 1 tsp of enzymes is enough. Pipers issues have been an issue since I went to home made and the amount of food did increase. Even the internist and nutritionist said 1 tsp was enough however doctors in my area do not know much about EPI other then very basic information. When I bring up info I learn from this forum and site to them the, act as if I have three heads and ask where I heard the info and then I give them the forum link.

So my questions is... should I try to increase the enzymes? If so by how much?

we strongly suggest 1 level tsp of powdered porcine enzymes (with the Lipase USP units around 71,000) per 1 cup of food (kibble) and then moisten enough for the enzymes to have something to stick to.......... if feeding wet food, you can reduce the amount of enzymes to 1/2 tsp to 3/4 tsp per 1 cup of wet food.

So yes.... i would try upping the enzymes by another 1/2 tsp.

i think the above plan is a good start..... first try the reduce rice to 1/4 cup cooked brown rice... do this for 3 days, watch the poos..... if you are not pleased..... THEN... try the following

Swap out the rice completely and replace it with white mashed potatoes..... and again, give it at least 3 days to see if this helps or hinders....

i would leave the pumpkin as is. for now.... besides you ONLY want to adjust 1 thing at a time

Regarding white potatoes..... they just came out with white potatoes do NOT cause inflammation nor does it raise blood sugar for diabetes...f. they are now saying that they are actually good for you ..... kind of figured this all along with our dogs and their "out-put" when given white mashed potato......

I have a question on White Potatoes. What do you consider a white potato? I know russets are more for baking so can I use Yukon, Yellow, Easter or Russet? I can not find White unless in a can.,

I have always referred to white potatoes meaning NOT yams or sweet potatoes. The ones you mention I use when I want white potatoes.
