Are you giving them probiotics at all? I noticed Abbeys was horrific before she was getting them, once I got her on the right pre/probiotic the smell subsided a lot!!!

Yesterday Piper started with the actual new recipe of food. I have been adding beef and rice to the already made recipe. She really likes any of it but I like that htis is more beef forward then sweet potato.

I also noticed that the volume of the stool was not like it was. Much less which I hear is good? As for the firmness, it is still not what I like but I think it is the psyllium powder. I am using Konsyl Organic Psyillum Powder. I wonder if Metamucil would be better?

Plus it is not as firm as we have had days (4 ) of nonstop rain and she was eating grass which makes her stool not good to.

I will see what it is like tonight

Yes, less stool is better :)

I looked up "Konsyl Organic Psyillum Powder" it is psyillum.

I would NOT use Metamucil... Metamucil is much harsher.

How much are you using of Konsyl powder????? WHen using Psyllium or SLippery Elm if you use too much it will give the dog gas and loose stools. So you don't want to over-do. In other words, More is NOT better!

For example, when we give SLippery Elm powder..... we only give :

1/8 tsp for dogs under 10lbs,
¼ tsp for dogs 10lbs to 30lbs,
½ tsp for dogs 30lbs to 80lbs,
3/4 tsp for dogs 80lbs to 100lbs,
1 tsp for dog 100/+lbs.

So depending on how much you are giving... you "might" want to try adjusting the dose.

If changing the amount of the Konsyl powder doesn't make a difference for the better.... the next thing you "might" want to try..... is change the probiotic. Even though Proviable is usually well tolerated and effective with many of our EPI dogs... this is no guarantee that it is going to work on all EPI dogs that need a probiotic. The issue is that every dog has their own unique gut flora composition and currently all brands of probiotics are a "one-size-fits-all".... so sometimes even the recommended probiotic products don't work as well as we expect.

SOOOOoooooo all that to say... you might want to change probiotics.... as an example, i had trouble with my dog's diarrhea... i tried proviable and 2 others.... nothing....BUT... when i tried Mercola Complete Probiotics https://www.chewy.com/dr-mercola-comple ... iIQAvD_BwE .... it worked like a charm i saw dramatic improvement the very next day..... so.... just saying.... you might want to try a different probiotic.

ANd if a different probiotic doesn't work... another (lower on the list) thing you might want to try is slightly increase the Tylan dose and see if that works............

Thanks for all the info.

Piper gets 1tsp of psyllium powder per the internists. I will try to lower. As for the probiotic, she has been on probable since the beginning. but I will also look at the one you posted.

I know pupper gets 11 to 12 oz of food or sitting. 1 tsp enzyme. Would o add an 1/8tsp more?

11 or 12 ounces of food is about 1+1/2 cups of food.... so she probably would be doing much better with 1+1/2 level tsp of enzymes :) especially if this is dry food.

If this is wet food (canned/home-made) then she probably would need 1 or 1+1/4 tsp of enzymes..........

good idea... try upping the enzymes just a wee bit (maybe by 1/8 of a tsp) ... give it a few days and see if that makes a difference.

Keep us posted!!!!!!
