 you might be right about Tylosin dose!

I read that chart a lot, and somehow saw 750mg per day! 😳

So he might need 2 pills twice daily during bad times! The pills are compounded at the pharmacy, then sent to the vet. I don't know the "concentration" of it, but I just assumed it's similar to what they get in the US. My original vet refused treatment. An after hours vet prescribed 400mg once daily. My new vet immediately said it's the right dose, but wrong frequency...always give twice daily!

Now I wonder if that's why it wasn't enough to prevent setbacks 😳

yes.... Tylan needs to be given twice a day....

Also.... i read your other post about the CREON..... once you start giving the right amount and frequency of Tylan.... you may find that you don't need as much CREON because often times, SID (small intestinal dysbiosis) and CREON "symptoms" are similar. For example.... when folks start using enzymes... a lot of times, it works for a few days and then they complain that the enzymes stopped working... which is not what is happening but rather that SID is out of control. Once you get the SID under control, you may find that you can manage the EPI with a lower dose of CREON.... or not.......just throwing this out there for you to be aware of as a possibility.

I think that is the million dollar question! Many do treat SIBO, and have their dog be stable from there for years. I am not that lucky.

First starting out, I thought I was very lucky. Mt dog was quite happy on Enzyme, probiotic and B12 injections. The first 2 months was very easy!. Then he managed to somehow come down with kennel cough. 2 days later he was having trouble breathing. Courtesy of him being 20 lbs underweight, his immune system was gone , thanks to EPI not diagnosed until he was very ill. This turned into pneumonia.

It took a while, but with 2 different round of antibiotics, he did finally kick the pneumonia! But days after finishing antibiotics, his first major SIBO flare started! My vet refused treatment of any kind. "Just give probiotic" and enzymes. I tried many times; but each time refused. Poor boy was suffering...again. perhaps antibiotics killed off any good bacteria. Or maybe just too run down from fighting pneumonia.

It took a couple of weeks to actually find a vet who would take a new client! They hit it hard with antibiotics (given Tylosin, Metro and Baytril). Within less than a week, I had new dog!

From there things were okay for almost 3 weeks. But in that time I had a lot going on with major, house repairs. For 2 weeks we had brick masons, landscaping and general contractors working. It was a LOT of noise, vibrations, etc. Occasionally during this Mad house, would have bad days, but came back around. But mostly good.

About a week after the house started yo be semi normal again, all heck broke lose. Very badly! No idea why! But I have wonder if stress was a factor. The house was BUSY,noisy and dirty! I kinda wonder of stress, immune system still down from EPI AND pneumonia, etc just stacked the odds against him yet again.

Now I am just pumping in extra probiotic, and praying! Maybe with less people coming in and less noise; he will start to go longer between setbacks. Might be wishful thinking; but I really do hope he stays "okay " good a bit!!
