6x Enzyme Diane to Pantenex

So, I purchased a jar of the Pantenex enzymes quite some time ago. I want to see if they are as effective as Diane's product. Lucy has been very stable and normally I wouldn't mess around. However, the Pantenex was not cheap and I would like to see if there is a viable alternative should some disruption in supply occurs.

Lucy gets 1 tsp per cup of ED 6x. The Pantenex guy maintains that their product is a 10x. He is suggesting that I use only a 1/2 tsp with Lucy's morning meal (1.5 cups Purina Pro Plan Sensitive stomach Salmon & Rice) then, 1/2 tsp with her 2-cup feed in the afternoon. Suggesting I give it 3 or 4 days, then increase to 3/4 tsp for both meals if her BMs are soft.

Any feedback or anyone with experience with the Pantenex enzymes would be greatly appreciated.

I would NOT reduce the amount of enzymes. If you look at the side of the container, the amounts of the 3 enzymes that they guarantee are in their product is very similar to Diane's 6x.

I used both Diane's 8x (EIGHT) and Pantenex for my dog. I had to use MORE Pantenex than I did Diane's 8x to achieve the same result. I would start with exactly the same amount of Pantenex as you were using of Diane's 6x. If things go good at that dose for a few days, you could try reducing the enzymes by a small amount to see what happens, and proceed from there.

Fast forward to the Pan-tenex you are using. Right stuff but i suspect if you use a different application technique you'll find much improvement.
With the Pantenex, i know they claim that it is 10x, but the lipase USP units is 71,000... please try giving the ratio of 3/4 (with wet food) tsp to 1 level tsp (with dry food) of Pan-tenex with 1 cu of food. Enzymes are to be given according to the volume of food, not per meal. .. Be sure to add enough liquid (room temp water is fine) to moisten the food so that the enzymes have something to stick to, mix and let incubate for about 20 minutes. then serve. HOpefully this will improve the poo condition."

I kinda did the reverse; going from Pantenex to Enzyme Diane 8x.

There is a lot of confusion with the labeling of the two products, causing many to think Pantenex has lower concentration. Pantenex label is based on MINIMUM values, at time of expiry. Enzyme Diane is very upfront, saying values are listed as at time of manufacture. Pantenex label is specifically the minimum levels to be classified as 10x. (Personally, I prefer Diane's method of labeling).

If you hunt around, Pantenex does have an image showing one batch at time of manufacture. And values are indeed a little higher than those of Enzyme Diane 8x.

When I started enzymes, and whenever switching enzyme brands; I started off very low, and worked my way up to my dog's "magic number".

With Pantenex, that was 3/4 tsp per meal
With Enzyme Diane 8x, it was 1 tsp per meal.

Having said that, my dog's stool quality was better with ED. It *was* solid with Pantenex, but color was light to medium brown. With ED, the stool color was noticeably darker. (I had tried 1 tsp of Pantenex, hoping to improve stool color; but that quickly led to acid reflux and no color change. So 3/4 tsp was best). Later, I had gotten a batch of Pantenex (4 jars), that was flaky at best. Very inconsistent stool. It was mid summer, and package was lost in transit for 3 weeks. I am not certain if that caused the flaky batch, but Pantenex basically offered me a $10 discount on my next order That's when I decided to switch.

I have since switched to Creon, as it's easier getting that in Canada.

We switched from Viokase to PanTenex a few years ago and I just stayed with 1 tsp per meal...no issues.
