Panakare Plus to Vedco Pancreved

Post by dogxander » 28 Feb 2023, 17:11

Hi everyone. Xander has been effectively treated with Panakare Plus since May 2019. The price of Panakare Plus has gotten out of hand, almost triple in the last year. I successfully transitioned to Pancreved over a couple months. Pancreved is marketed as the equivalent to Panakare Plus. Xander has now developed the ferocious appetite he had when first diagnosed with EPI. He often forages for roots of raspberries and roses as he has not done since treatment started in 2019. His poops are still excellent and he is maintaining a healthy weight with no other symptoms. It is almost as if he is only short of digesting proteins. I am going to transition back to Panakare Plus or a mixture to see if this issue resolves.

Good job on managing the EPI. Did you compare each amount of the enzymes between the two? Have you already tried enzymediane.com? She will send sample bags for a small price. Most folks don't have a problem switching.
How is Xanders weight? You could try adding a little extra enzymed meal sometime during the day and see if that helps.
What is the diet you are feeding?
Are you giving a B12 supplement daily?

Here is an update to my original post. After switching back to Panakare Plus. Xander has shown modest improvement. It still may be an issue of tweaking the dosage or maybe not even enzyme related. Any change in an EPI dog such as food or enzymes often may be difficult. Perhaps I should have had a longer enzyme transition period. One brand of enzyme may have a different mixture and potency of vitamins. Some dogs do not like certain brands. Some require a different dosage. Small differences may be difficult for some EPI dogs.
I would also like to thank ValleyVet for their outstanding customer service. At my request they contacted Vedco who manufactured Panreved. Vedco was also excellent in working with ValleyVet checking the lot numbers, verifying the potency and ingredients of my purchases.

Hi Jill, Current food is Victor Hero. He also did very well on Sport Dog Herding Dog food. I take about 6 months to transition food starting with just a few pieces of kibble. He does not do well with grains or chicken.

Sounds good. Are you supplementing with B12 also?
