Pigs pancreas in UK

Post by Patsy » 05 Feb 2024, 14:39

In case any Uk owners haven’t come across it, you can buy frozen pancreas chunks from Durham Animal Feeds, a raw food company with a wide range of sensible products. It’s £5.99 for 2kg, or there is a larger pack. I presume you can buy direct if it’s correctly insulated. However, I buy their frozen minced foods from a local pet shop who order large batches every week for their freezer.
It’s so much easier these days now to buy raw frozen pet food . There are lots of new , very expensive designer dog foods, with fancy adverts on tv, costing more than food for humans.
I don’t think supermarkets will be stocking pancreas though!
Springer spaniel Marti had Epi, PLE , MMM just to confuse me. She lived till 12yrs, chubby and happy despite eight years of epi.
Capsule enzymes suited her best. B12 supplements made her into a new dog!
After a cocker with PLN kidney disease, I now have two healthy rescues, a lively, suicidal , small ginger terrier, adopted with pneumonia, and gum disease needing nearly all his teeth out, and a fluffy grey toy poodle/terrier from Greece.

Thank you Patsy for the information. I am seeing more fresh pet food refrigerators popping up at grocery stores and more frozen raw foods.
Yes, haven't seen pancreas yet!

Great info Patsy.... and yes! SO much more is available to us nowadays.... same in the USA :)
Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........
