I gave everybody crushed pineapple for a couple of months. So, no MSG? I thought Accent was one of the recommendations.

I used to leave the poop & sprinkle cayenne pepper on the piles, but even that didn't seem to help.

The vet has a very handsome leather muzzle he put on Nina for her anal squeezing. Not at all Hannibal Lecter-ish. Good idea. Probably cuts down on the incessant barking at the neighbor's ducks, too.
Tucker was a shepherd mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Diane's Enzymes 4 t/day, B12 1 capsule/day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/day. Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 4 c/day. 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma Nov. 2023. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.

Now there's Nina. 5 year old GSD. TLI 1.0 B12 323. We are still tweaking her routine, and getting lots of help from the forum. She is klutzy and goofy, and we love her dearly, too.

QUESTION---Eggs? My dogs are going to eat kibble. Decent quality kibble, not top of the line, though. I also like to supplement their meal with something tasty & nutritious.

I have a good source for yard eggs, where the chickens are loose & they are fed good grain. More importantly, they are able to scratch.

At 82 pounds, how often can I feed Nina a boiled egg? I have read that dogs with pancreatitis should avoid them, but I know EPI is different.

I appreciate your help.---P

Eggs are fine. There's no fiber in eggs, and there's some nutrients. There is some calories to the yolk, so too much may cause weight gain. No calories to speak of in the whites. If you aren't worried about weight, there's no issues with giving an egg a day if you really wanted to. I do add eggs to every batch of food I make, but not that much. (It's the only ingredient I cook).
Chance was my 4 legged soul mate. My mobility assist service dog. Pure yellow Lab, 75 lbs. After struggling with weight all his life, finally dx with EPI. cTLI < 1, folate and B12 very low. Fed Raw. Maintained with Creon, Garden of Life probiotic and intermittent calcium bentonite clay. (Tylosin was a big nightmare for him)!

Rylee is Chance's successor; also pure Yellow/Fox red Lab. Started with symptoms at 8 weeks. At 6 months of age, also prescribed Creon due to suspected EPI (due to passing large amounts of undigested food). Currently suspected of blockages in pancreatic ducts. She is maintained VERY nicely on Creon and probiotics. Also raw fed.

If you're worried about the fat in the egg just pmit the yolk.
Mickeys diet was 2 hard boiled eggs, 1 with white only, and cooked white macaroni all blended. Some green beans on the side.

Thanks, Jill. Your response is exactly what I was hoping for.

I will watch Miss Nina's waistline, as I give her a very nutritious boiled egg each morning. She loves them.---Pam

Lol agree! It has been passed down from Mickey that all I do is hit the boiled egg on the side of the sink and whatever 2 dogs I currently come running and promptly sit at attention!
