update: starting yesterday i doubled his tylan dosage. giving him a slippery elm capsule (i usually put it in his food but since he's refusing to eat i made him take it) made him somewhat interested in eating and drinking yesterday. today even a few hours after a slippery elm capsule he's refusing to eat or drink :(

Ryn

SO sorry to hear this.... if Goose is STILL refusing to eat and doesn't want to drink.... please take him to the vet.... you do not want this to go on for more than a day or two...

Also when at the vet... have them check all the kidney values.... just in case. what concerns me is the lack of interest in drinking water.

Can you "tent" the skin to see if he is dehydrated????? if so try to give some baby unflavored Pedialyte. You don't have to buy it, there are recipes on the internet, just make a small batch. the last thing you want is a dehydrated dog... once they get dehydrated it becomes a vicious cycle... then they don't want to drink :(

good news, he's been drinking! and interested in eating treats but not his kibble (mixed with enzymes) even when i mix in treats. so i just doordashed some canned food, hoping he will eat that with enzymes! i think he might have developed an aversion to his kibble because of his upset tummy.

That is great to hear Ryn!
Maybe you could grind some kibble and include it in the mix .
Have you checked his teeth?

Hi Ryn..... that is GREAT news that he is now eating and drinking..... and i LOVE Jill's idea to just grind the kibble.... maybe add some broth and/or a little canned food to it as it might be his teeth that are bothering him.......

And again... VERY relieved to hear that he is eating and drinking (especially the drinking part... that had me worried for you!

my guess is that he most likely just doesn't want to eat the kibble.....kinda like what would you prefer steak/chicken or cheerios everyday for every meal

HOWEVER... still keep an eye on him.... if he start avoiding more than just kibble, or if he stops playing (mouthing toys/balls, etc)... then have the vet check his teeth.... sometimes there is a problem that we cannot see with the naked eye.... even though i really suspect he just doesn't want kibble .

Again, SOOoooooooo glad he is eating and drinking now!!!!
