PancrePlus Tablets. How many?

Post by jrose0315 » 12 Mar 2019, 07:16

Since Enzyme Diane is out, I have an abundant stock of PancrePlus tablets. I feed Kahluah 3 times a day, 2 cups per feeding.
Is the dose 1 tablet per cup of food? But I’ve also read 2-3 per feeding? I’ve not really had to use the tablets since Diane is a life saver!
This will get me by until she’s back in stock though.
Thanks
Jennie and Kahluah

Hi
We say one for each cup and one for the bowl you may need to adjust this and you crush them and teat them like the powder this seems to have given the best results.
Maddie DX April 2011 along with low B12 she was feed with a low fibre food below 3% , fat was not restricted ( she wasnt good on pea based foods ) She initially had a course of B12 shots weekly over a period of 6 months and then we used the B12 pills from Chemeyes in the UK . We used Panzym and slowly had to increase the dose as she aged when she was first DX she was 23kg but she gained weight quickly and got back to 33 kg .
Maddie gained her angel wings in Jan 2018 at the age of 10 to a condition unrelated to EPI.

Hello! We have been using PancreaPlus tablets since the beginning of our dogs' diagnosis (9 years and counting). We have found that 1 tablet per cup plus one for the bowl (so 3 tabs for 2 cups food) is a good starting point....however as dogs age they need more enzymes (whether tablet or powder) so our 12 year old dog is up to 5 tablets for a bit more than 2 cups of food. It is REALLY important to crush the tablets first, add a little water, stir, let sit for a few minutes (we are about 8 minutes) and serve. Hope this helps.
Currently 2 Shiloh Shepherd Pups! Two Shilohs that passed over the Rainbow Bridge.
Taiko was born 6 September 2006 and had EPI; she passed over the Rainbow Bridge 10 April 2019 NOT EPI-related.
Pharaoh born 24 November 2007 and had EPI. He passed September 2020 NOT EPI-related.
Moku born 15 April 2014 and was dx with EPI in January 2019.
Hoshi born 6 July 2019 and does not have EPI
Taiko and Pharaoh were half siblings through their sire; their sire is Moku's grandfather through his Mom. Moku and Hoshi have the same sire.
Moku uses PancreaPlus tablets and receives weekly B12 shots at home.

Your pup is gorgeous and you've been given the correct dosing instructions for the tablets. I believe Enzyme Diane has enzymes in stock now - unfortunately there were issues with the manufacturer beyond her control.
Madelon, owned by DOC. DOC dx EPI 5/2015 = TLI < .4, B12 406; Folate >24. DOC taught me so much and together we battled and overcame EPI, food sensitivies, environmental allergies but we lost the cancer battle. DOC was dx with hemangiosarcoma 5/2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge July 24, 2022. He is and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my heart dog.

Hello,

New to the forum and new to EPI treatments for our dog. The recommended dosage here is not what our vet recommended. I haven’t had a lot of faith in what we’ve been told to give her. She lost 43 pounds in the beginning (German shepherd). We were told to give her 2/3 of a tablet with each meal. We decided to give her one tablet since cutting off 1/3 of a tablet is near impossible and just yields waste of the medicine. However, I have never felt like this dosage was right so I appreciate the new recommendations here. I have a follow up question. We have been mixing wet dog food with her dry dog food to help her gain weight. If I am adding a cup of wet dog food to her 2 cups of dry dog food, is it OK to give her four tablets? One per cup of food plus one for the bowl? I want to make sure I don’t give her too much and create side affects. Since she has started back in February she has gained 15 pounds but appears to be losing weight again. Also, do you recommend daily probiotics? Thank you.

THE rule of thumb is 1 per cup of food plus one for the bowl for the tablets

Thank you.
Do you have any links you can share about dosage? I’d like to show my vet since they don’t seem to have much experience with the tablets. They’re always pushing the powder. I had to fight to get them to approve the tablets. Thanks again.
