Re: New Member First Post
The vet's assistance called me on Friday. The vet will not provide the Tylan or any other medication until x-rays are done and the possibility of tumours or whatever else are eliminated. So at this point I don't have many options. I feel the x-ray without sedation would be too traumatic for her so she would have to be sedated. Again it will be traumatic for her, but the lesser of the two. I asked the assistant what specifically was the vet looking for and she said nothing specific but wants to rule it out as a source of her condition. Her tummy is about the same, her really bad diahreaa has stopped, for a while there she was rushing outside every couple or hours or less. Now she seems to be on a more regular schedule just that when she does go, it's still mush. She is sleeping through the night which is also good for her and me [0: I will keep you posted.

Hi Tig,
I feel badly for you. I am frustrated just reading your posts... i can only imagine how frustrated you are dealing with all of this
Unfortunately i don't know what else to say. Many times here on the forum we have strong recommendations that we really push for because we have proven results and we also work behind the scenes with EPI veterinarian gastroenterologists which gives us data to be able to make some strong suggestions.... BUT.... in the big picture we are not vets and we do not know your dog personally... your vet knows your dog and it's complete medical history (or at least we hope so!) so sometimes there are valid reasons why a vet refuses to try what we strongly suggest .... even if they don't share it with the pet care-giver. So i hope that this is what is going on.... In the end, you either have faith in your vet and are comfortable and pleased with them or if you don't, in which case, if you really don't, then maybe a second opinion is in order. I am sure this is all very difficult for you to decide what in the world to do.. in the end, if i had to make a difficult decision or decide on something very confusing.....what has always helped me is that i listened to my gut, not what others said.
I wish there was some way that we could help you with this..... but at this juncture, i am stumped
However, please keep us posted with what you decide to do, as now you and Bailey are family and we care about our family members!

Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

Re: New Member First Post
Thank you once again for the continued support. It truly does mean a lot. I did ask the assistant to ask the vet if the x-rays come back negative, which hopefully they will, then what does the vet plan on doing as a next step. The answer was he wants to take the x-rays first and will then decide. So after wrestling with my decision I think I will book the appointment and then at least I know I have done as much as I can to this point. Fingers crossed. Our girl seems fine other wise. She has bad days and better days. I did increase her slippery elm recently to 3 tables, 400mg each so lets see if that makes a difference. Again I thank you and this forum for the support and advise.

Re: New Member First Post
Hi all, I'm Jack. Found this community on the search, so following a sudden weight loss and a lot of research we took our 11-month-old girl into the vet and had some tests ran. The vet called us back this morning and said she in fact has EPI and recommends the supplement Pancrezyme. I just did some preliminary research but it is not cheap by the least bit. Can anyone with a dog with EPI chime in and perhaps give me some advice on finding the enzymes we will need to feed her for the rest of her life or perhaps some alternatives, I would really appreciate it!

Hi Jack. Is Alexa the pup in your Avatar or a German Shepard as your signature says you own?
How about I start a thread for Alexa so people spot you? It will have the title new member first post.
